The  Messiah - Part 6

Prophecy of the Messiah being the son of David

  • 2 Samuel 7:12 And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.
  • 13. He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.
  • 14. I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men: and with the stripes of the children of men: 2 Sam
  • 15  But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.

We see here a double prophecy. Nathan the prophet was speaking to King David. David is promised that his son would inherit the throne and be judged for any iniquity or sin the son commits but the throne or kingdom line shall not be removed from the House of David like it was with King Saul.

This was fulfilled partially in King Solomon. Solomon did sin and was judged, later the kingdom was split because of sin and eventually was temporarily done away with. God keeps His promises though. When he said that a house will be built for His name and His kingdom shall last forever, He meant it.

This eternal part of the prophecy is fulfilled in Jesus Christ.

  • 2 Samuel 7:16 And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.

  • Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
  • Isaiah 9:7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Unto us a child is born. This child here is not Solomon because Solomon's kingdom did have an end. This is someone who will sit on the throne of David forever. This is God, the everlasting Father. This is a government of peace that will last forever.

Some are still looking for this Messiah King to come and they temporarily will think the coming antichrist will be that person. By rejecting the suffering Messiah who already came to be a sacrifice for sins, they are still looking for the King Messiah.

The bible says:

  • Revealation 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

When the Messiah who already came the first time to save the world from sin, comes a seconds time, it will be with clouds. All will see Him. Whether this means all in the vicinity of Israel or all with the help of the news media and TV cameras, I don't know but every eye will see Him and the Israeli people will mourn because they will see that the one that their ancestors pierced is the very Messiah they rejected.

Some individual American Jews and atheists reject Him now by constantly fighting to remove nativity scenes from public places and other such nonsense. I just pray that the Christians in America do not allow a bitter spirit or hatred to cause them to turn against all the Jews because of this. We must not allow any hate to fill our hearts because we need to remember the eternal purpose of God is to tell (not force, browbeat, or threaten) but tell the world that the Messiah has already come and will return. Tell the world about the gospel of Jesus Christ to all who believe. Tell Jews, Gentiles and all that we must repent of sin and turn to God by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ to save us from sin. Tell the world that there is no other name under heaven given to us for salvation.

  • Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Do not allow fear to cause hatred. If nativity scenes are taken away, yes protest and lobby to keep them, but don't allow hate and bitterness to fill our hearts and keep us from spreading the gospel. We are to love and show kindness even to those who oppose us. Never persecute, hate or belittle someone who disagrees with the gospel. After all remember what some have seen in so-called Christianity of the past. That is why they fear a manger scene in the public sector. Because some who claimed to be Christians persecuted, killed scattered the Jewish people in the past, naturally they fear our Christian symbols in public places.

Hate is not to be part of our nature except maybe to hate what sin does to the human race. Sin causes child abuse, rape, murder, theft etc. Sin kills, steals and destroys. Sin is the enemy and the enemy Jesus Christ came to take away from us. We can even be good people that don't do the above sins and still be lost sinners. Any disobedience to the law of God is sin. Hate is sin too. We must not allow Satan to bring sin back into our hearts by something religious like a threat to take away nativity scenes. Yes lobby to keep Christ in the public sector but lobby with love and not allow bitterness to blind us to God's eternal purpose.

  • Isaiah 11:1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
  • 2. And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
  • 3. And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
  • 4, But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
  • 5. And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.
  • 6. The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.
  • 7. And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
  • 8  And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.
  • 9  They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
  • 10  And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.
  • 11  And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.
  • 12  And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

This is so exciting. This Messiah will restore true peace and restore Israel and all Gentiles that seek Him. This is the same Messiah that came the first time to die for sin. I believe the first three verses are fulfilled at the first coming and the next part of Isaiah 11 will be fulfilled at the Second Coming of Christ. This is love, peace and joy, not hate. Israel finally finds out who their true Messiah is. We are not to hate Israel but to love them and rejoice with them to receive the Messiah they are now rejecting.

Love them and remember they do not know what they are doing now. If they see hatred coming from us who call ourselves Christians that will cause them to further reject the Messiah and further cause many to be lost eternally.

The Messiah is for everyone on the face of the earth who believes and desires to be free from sin and accept God's eternal plan of salvation. Jew, Gentile, Islam, Hindu, atheist and whoever will dare to believe and receive the gift of God, eternal life.

  • Jeremiah 23:5  Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.
  • 6  In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
  • 7  Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that they shall no more say, The LORD liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;
  • 8  But, The LORD liveth, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land.

Fulfillment in the New Testament:

  • The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Matthew 1:1

The words of the angel to Mary before the birth of Jesus:

  • Luke 1:32  He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
  • 33  And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

Jesus Christ, the Messiah is still alive and waiting to return to us:

  • Romans 1:3  Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
  • 4  And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

Jesus Christ rose from the dead. This is where many stumble. This is the part that takes a supernatural faith that can't be receive by none other than the Spirit of God.

When Jesus rose from the dead, He conquered death. All who believe in Him will also inherit eternal life and the old body which dies a natural death will be raised at His Second Coming with a new body that shall never die. The same type of body that Jesus Christ has now as He awaits the time that the Heavenly Father tells Him to return to us, will be given to all who believe in Him.

Every true believer should be hoping and rejoicing in the Coming of the Lord. Yes, we want as many as can and will to be saved first but deep within our hearts should be a longing to see Him.

"Oh I want to see Him, look upon His face, there to sing forever of His saving grace. On the streets of glory, let me lift my voice. Cares all past, home a last, ever to rejoice."
