The  Messiah - Part 7

Messiah Eternal

  • Psalms 45:6 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.
  • 7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

The Messiah's kingdom shall be forever. We know that this has not taken place yet as of the update of this study in August 2024. We know that it did not take place at the first coming of Jesus. The Messiah is one that loves righteousness and hates wickedness. The Messiah is anointed of God above all others.

  • Psalms 102:25 Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.
  • 26 They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:
  • 27  But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

The Messiah was with God when the earth was created. This foretells of the earth in which we see now will wax old and one day be changed. The sin and evil we see in the world today will not be forever. God's eternal purpose for the earth will come to pass. To be part of this eternal kingdom we must wake up and realize that until we are forgiven and cleansed from sin, we are lost and without God. God loves us so much that he made a perfect way to be saved from sin and have eternal life.

Yet this perfect way is so simple a child can understand it even before some adults do. Just believe. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved. Remember to believe means more than just acknowledge His existence. To believe in something means to partake of, to join to, and to make that something your whole life. Salvation also is something that God does. He gives it to those who believe. It is a divine act of God. You ask, He gives. It is not something we earn by doing a bunch of good deeds to merit it. We do not deserve to be saved. We all have sinned.

Nothing we can do in the flesh is good enough to receive eternal life and salvation. This is a gift to us. This is free. This is from God but God will not force it upon us, we have to receive it.

Sadly though many ignore this and let it pass them by. Many refuse to hear this message and persecute those who tell the message. Many would rather stay and enjoy their sins rather than forsake them. Some receive the word with gladness and then the cares of this life choke the word and they return to the way in which they escaped. Some receive it and persecution comes and they fall away. Yet some receive the word and nothing matters to them but to endure and stay with the Lord until they leave the world by way of natural death or until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

This foretells of the Messiah being born in Bethlehem. Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem of Judah. It also foretells of the rule of the Messiah to be everlasting.

Prophecy fulfilled in the New Testament

  • Hebrews 1:8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
  • 9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
  • 10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
  • 11 They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
  • 12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
  • John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

This statement of Jesus made the religious Pharisees very angry. Jesus threatened their very existence by claiming that He existed before Abraham. Jesus didn't exist merely at His natural birth. He is eternal and was with God the Father before the earth was even created. He is God. He is God in the flesh. God actually became one of us to show us how to be saved and have eternal life.

  • John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
  • 26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

Jesus is eternal and those who believe in Him will also be eternal. He spoke these words to comfort Martha who was grieving because of the death of her brother Lazarus. Jesus later raised Lazarus from the dead to show His followers that in Him was the power over death.

  • Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
  • 4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

God planned ages ago to redeem us back to Himself through His Son, Jesus Christ. His eternal plan was originally that His creation would live forever in holiness and without blame, walking in love. The sin of Adam and Eve did not change this plan. God sent His own Son to be born as one of us to show us salvation and bring us back to Him. This is the Messiah and the savior of all who believe this. The Messiah is actually the second Adam. By man came the fall of all mankind, lost and separated from God. By man had to come the redemption of mankind to bring us back to God and free us from the sin that condemns us to eternal darkness and separation from God. All of us was destined to Hell until Jesus came to save us.

  • Colossians 1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
  • 13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
  • 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
  • 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
  • 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
  • 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
  • 18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
  • 19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell;

In the book of Colossians we see that the writer is giving thanks for what God has done for us by making us partakers of the inheritance of the saints. God has delivered us from the power of darkness and changed us in order that we can become part of the kingdom of His Son. We have redemption through the blood that was shed by this Son, Jesus Christ. We have also forgiveness of sins. The writer also describes Jesus as being the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature. By this same Son of God all things were created and they were created by Him and for Him. It shows here that He, Jesus, existed before the creation. He is the head of the church, the firstborn from the dead and all fullness dwells in Him.

We see here that this is the only plan of God to save mankind and the only way of salvation is through faith in the Son of God, Jesus Christ.

  • Revelations 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

The one who was slain was Jesus Christ, the Messiah. He has redeemed us to God by His own shed blood. Those pictured here are those that were saved from out of every kindred, tongue, people and nation. Salvation is a gift to anyone from any background, nation or race. None are excluded. We only exclude ourselves by unbelief.
